Event: Destination Hikes & Nature Vancouver (June 10)

Destination Hikes: An evening with the author

Nature Vancouver, formerly known as the Vancouver Natural History Society, is known for — among other things — regularly hosting evening presentations on birding, botany, marine biology, and other interesting topics.

On June 10, I’m going to be the presenter. The focus will be my then-one-month-old book, Destination Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia, featuring 55 hiking trips.

I’m looking forward to spending the evening on Zoom with Nature Vancouver members and non-members. Bring your questions.

Destination Hikes book launch

It’s my favourite time of year — hiking book season!

On May 11, my new guidebook — Destination Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia: Swimming Holes, Mountain Peaks, Waterfalls, and More — arrives in bookstores everywhere with 55 new hikes. That evening, the British Columbia Mountaineering Club (BCMC) hosts a virtual social, headlined by the Destination Hikes book launch.

What follows are the details for the Zoom event (and Clubhouse afterparty). Everyone is welcome, and there’s no need to register. Just add the event to your calendar, click the Zoom link that evening, and join us!

The Vancouver section of the Alpine Club of Canada is hosting a very interesting event on April 27.

The focus of the Tuesday evening virtual social is the Diamond Head area of Garibaldi Provincial Park. This well-loved area, which includes Elfin Lakes and Paul Ridge, is featured in my first book, 105 Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia.

I’ve accepted ACC Vancouver’s kind invitation to give a brief presentation about my new book, Destination Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia, as part of the event. Published by Greystone Books, this guide to 55 new hikes is due out May 11 in paperback and ebook.

Destination Hikes & Backpacking in Southwestern B.C.

It’s time to announce my first scheduled event of the hiking book season!

On June 1, North Vancouver District Public Library hosts a double book event, Destination Hikes & Backpacking in Southwestern B.C., featuring myself and fellow guidebook author Taryn Eyton. Of course, it’ll be a virtual happening, via the magic of Zoom video conferencing.

I’ll introduce my second book, Destination Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia, which features 55 new hikes. Taryn will discuss her first book, Backpacking in Southwestern British Columbia. Our books actually have the same publication date — May 11.
